Pocketless Coat
Pocketless Coat
By Brian Newman
POCKETLESS COAT
(Male) I wanna be buried one day when I'm old
In a suite with the pocket cut-out of the jacket
Cause I want my last fashion statement
To let my brothers know
-This world's toys will please you
But you can't take it when you go
Its not what you bring along that saves you
Its what you left for others when you rode
The long ride of life is short
Chorus: About this time tommorrow
This train will leave its tracks
The last station in your journey
The last moment you have to look back
The clock is surely ticking Are you wearing your pocketless coat?
Are you wearing your pocketless coat?
- (Female) I wanna be buried one day when I'm old
In a locket with the portrait cut-out of the frame
Cause I want my last romantic gesture To let my sisters know
Are you grabbing your pocketless coat?
-These silly boys may please you
But you can't take them when you go
Its not who you bring along that saves you
Its who you changed when you rode
The long ride of life is short
(Repeat Chorus, but with pictureless locket)
(Both Vocals)
When are we gonna learn my children
There is nothing here and nobody to hold
Those plaques and portraits on the wall can't save you
This life is not your home
This world is just a hotel room
Are you wearing your pictureless locket?
Are you grabbing your pocketless coat?
Right before the elevator to atmosphere opens
You climb on board and God closes its doors
Will you be holding to the furniture
Will you be clinging to a portraitless locket
Or be glad you wore a pocketless coat?
Are you grabbing your pocketless coat?
Prayer for Those Seeking a Pocketless Coat
The Aleph and Tav, Alpha and Omega, who begins and ends the Clock of Time
We ask that you teach us to Number our Days and our Minutes Carefully
We ask that you teach us to hold our Hours Close, and our Loved Ones Close more Hours
We ask that you lead us to those Hearts we are to Love,
While we still have Sand in the Hourglass to Love Them With
We ask that our Death be made a Beautiful Moment Completed
We ask that our Last Day be the change to a Solemn Season to our Children
Not just the day when their Money Machine Broke Down
We ask that our Hearts be filled with Joy when you Smile on Us
Not just because we hear the empty clamor of man’s short lived Applause
We ask that our Lives establish your Kingdom of Truth and Love on the Earth
Not just build our Castles of Sand and our “Empire of Dirt”
“Sons of Adam are a vapor, sons of man are an illusion. In balanced scales they go up— altogether they are less than a breath.”
Psalm 62:10 Tree of Life Version

Elizabeth's Matches
Elizabeth's Matches
By Brian Newman
ELIZABETH'S MATCHES
Tore portraits off the nail last Tuesday
Cause frames hang all we see
Elizabeth shatters the face in the mirror
Answering the scars that go unseen
........Behind a perfect smile they hide
........Behind her smile she slides
Elizabeth lit all her matches
Built a light to catch her eyes
Consume all the walls that confine her
To a life that she spins in,
Doesn't live
........Been screaming but no one will hear
........Behind her smile she slides
CHORUS:
Burning down
Walls around you
Perfect portraits
Isn't really you there
-Unwrapping the sadness
You've kept a secret
Pulling all your matches out!
Elizabeth showed me her matches
In a box marked suicide romances
Filled up with guitars and addictions
Tattooed as a message to Dad
"Everyone sees her singing like a Cherub
On the front pew of his Sunday morning show
Nobody can see his angel's soul is lost in limbo
Forgotten in the message he sold"
Tonite she won't be practicing her courtsies and hellos
But watching the perfect portraits burn down
Said to me that beauty is like her cigarrette's
In the end its just plain killing you
After all the glamour and the music is gone
CHORUS:
Burning down
Walls around you
Perfect portraits
Isn't really you there
-Unwrapping the sadness
You've kept a secret
Pulling all your matches out!
Elizabeth don't tell me I'll find only ashes
When I'm close enough to see
Hold back your bottle hand
A little longer
And we'll be banging on your door to get in
Behind the smiles you slide
Prayer for Everyone Burning Their Matches
To The God Who Asks for Honesty not Perfection
We ask that you give us the Courage to be more transparent that Stained Glass
We ask that you give us the Integrity to use the same words in the Kitchen Chair as the Pew
We ask that we find Truth and not just Religion when we look for your Name
We ask that we find Love and not just Courtesy when we enter your Doors
We ask that you rescue us from our own Masquerade
We ask that you wipe away our painted Faces to reveal the Tears behind
We ask that you remove these Suites and Ties to show the world the Chains we Hide
We ask that most of all our children not hate us for the Rebels and Hypocrites we have Become
“I hate, I despise your festivals!
I take no delight in your sacred assemblies.
Even if you offer me burnt offerings and your grain offerings,
I will not accept them,
nor will I look
at peace offerings of your fattened animals.
Take away from Me the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the melody of your harps.
But let justice roll like water
and righteousness like an ever-flowing torrent.”

Shattered Glass
Shattered Glass
By Brian Newman
SHATTERED GLASS
You’re waking up in my car
For now we both are safe
Where you roll into
Becomes my favorite place
-So lay your head down for a while
And just exist tonite
Later on we’ll drive around
No one’s looking now
-I wanna hear
How your day was spent
Think I could know all they can’t comprehend
Do you wanna see
A smile that comprehends
CHORUS:
After they bleed your dreams of hope
Where do they run?
Who will stitch them up when you call?
Why do you run home before its time?
But that’s a secret yours to keep and not mine
Through the shattered glass you see it all
And sometimes our visions get so broke
We can’t see at all
Don’t let the rocks they throw
Shatter all you’re hoping for
-Behind a broken telescope
Last night you found your star
Between the broken strings
A best friend plays your song
With a broken pen I’m writing you letters
To be read aloud, on the radio
About the moments we’re drunk
On the moonbeam’s undertow
In that same coffeehouse
Where your smile first shone
-So lay your head down for a while
And just exist tonite
Later on we’ll drive around
No one’s looking now
CHORUS: After your star burns out where does it fall?
We could go pin it back up, let me know
Someone needs to take a picture before your smile is stole
Another dollar for some fuel
Is all we’re waiting on
Off into that marble sky we drove
And never looking back
Cause no one’s going to hang our portraits once we’re gone
But that’s a secret ours to keep and the world will never know
Through the shattered glass we see it all
And sometimes our visions get so broke
We can’t see at all
Don’t let the rocks they throw
Shatter all we’re hoping for
-Hey I’m always here to answer when you call
For a while we’ll drive around
Then I’ll take you home
I will not be cut-by the shattered glass
From the rocks they like to throw
Prayer for Those Walking On Shattered Glass
To The God Who Places the Lonely in Homes
We ask that You see all that we have Missed.
We ask that you Ride with us on our Lonely Drives through the Night
We ask that you Hear our Cries into our Pillows
We ask that you Sit beside us at our Tables for One
We ask that you dry our Tears at the Movies
We ask that you Play these Love Songs when we forget the Sound
We ask that you Hold us as we Hold our Children by Ourselves
We ask that you Hold up our Arms as we do the Holding meant for Two
We ask that you give us Friends who Witness our Lives
We ask that you give us Companions who will Hold our Secrets
We ask for all of this until you bring us a Covenant Love
“God settles the lonely in a home. He leads prisoners out to prosperity.
But the rebellious live in a parched land.” Psalm 68:7

Armies
Armies
By Brian Newman
ARMIES
Tonight, All the stars could fall
Tonight, Will break the chains off us all
Left at one last dance-Nothing here to lose
I wanna light the flame-Fire that’s barely burning in you
Give this dance a chance and if
Tonite I hold you tight-And break down the walls
Kiss your face soft-And open up gates to your soul
Don't lose it all-Wondering when this siege on time ends
And then-What will the armies take away?
Tonite, Life's soldiers could halt
Tonite, Our inner wars will stop
When I take hold your hand-Roses in moonlite entwine
This moment immortal-Cause in us it never dies
And this dance is a tower-Our love will reign safe here forever
These dreams roll on unhindered-And life's soldiers never arrive
To steal them by surprise-When we give our fears up to the fire
When we give it all, all we'll ever need to smile-Is in tonite
Tonite I hold you tight-And break down the walls
Kiss your face soft Open up gates to your soul
Don't lose it all Wondering when this siege on time ends
And then
What will the armies take away?
Tomorrow, Don't you let this go
When our feet hit the ground
God turns back his face-Or time erases our smiles
Tomorrow, Don't you let this go
When roses give way to thorns Life's armies march on our tower
Yeah we may lose the war, But you won't fight this alone
Don't lose it all Wondering when this siege on time ends
And then
What will the armies take away?
Prayer for those the Armies have come Against
Creator and Sustainer of our Hearts
We come before you asking for a Big Love
We ask for a Love without Fig Leaves like Adam and Eve
We ask for a Love Larger than our Fears
We ask for a Love that keeps the Fire when others have fallen to Ash
We ask for the Walls to come done and never rise Again
We ask for the Hope to wave like a Flag and never Fall
We ask for a Love that grows and gains Ground
A Love that lets us Embrace our Beloved but also our Neighbor and our Enemy
We ask for a Love that brings not only Joy but also Change
We ask for that Banner over us to be Love and to be Raised
“So Jacob worked for Rachel seven years, yet in his eyes it was like a few days,
because of his love for her.” Genesis 29:20 Tree of Life Version

Best Things They Threw Away
Best Things They Threw Away
By Brian Newman
We Are The Best Things They Threw Away
I am newer in spirit than these ragged clothes
I am more complete than my broken home
I am not fractured in character like your heroes are
I am in a braver world than you might decide
From the timid smile I dwell behind
Chorus:
And we are the best things They threw away
And we are the next ones To save the day
We are always exceptions to the rules
Tell that little child Next it could be you
You are the best thing, They threw away
The best thing They threw away
-My friend you are worth more than you know
Maybe you've been pinned down by their heavy words and sold
Maybe tonite is time to check the scars
In any given moment you may spread your wings and fly
That's why I always say a sweet goodbye
Chorus:
And we are the best things They threw away
And we are the next ones To save the day
We are always exceptions to the rules
Tell that little child Next it could be you
You are the best thing, They threw away
The best thing They threw away
Prayer for Best Things They Threw Away
Lover of our Souls, Our Souls being Who We Are
We ask You to change the Price Tags
Others Lowered all the way Down and placed on our Hearts
We ask You to bring your Hammer and Nails
For their words have blown us Around
We ask You to Paste our Wings
Cause these Years went and pulled our Feathers Out
We ask You to gather the Pieces
Cause we found they wouldn’t fit with anyone anywhere
So we sent them Sailing South
We ask You to bring the Best Things They Threw Away
We ask You to bring the Best Pieces of Ourselves back Around
“As for the kedoshim who are in the land, they are noble—in them is all my delight.”

Abba's Beautiful Child
Abba's Beautiful Child
By Brian Newman
Abba’s Beautiful Child
You see a blue and green world
Through dark brown eyes
You find a smiling future
Despite the frowning times
Chorus:
You'll always be
Running towards the rainbow
At the end of the line
You'll always be
Abba's beautiful child
-Turn all the bad days around just fine
And I'm thankful that you are a Sweet Child of mine
The past cant hold you in place
Cant pin you down with shame
Cant corrupt your heart with hate
Cause the future calls your name
The bright days are waiting
Got no time to waste
In the Rain
Chorus:
You see a blue and green world
Through dark brown eyes
You find a smiling future
Despite the frowning times
Youll always be
Running towards the rainbow
At the end of the line
Youll always be
Abba's beautiful child
-Falling down again
But you get back up
The whole world would crumble in
But all you need is love
To pick yourself back up
So your blue and green view
Through your dark brown eyes
Will never fade
To black and gray
Abba's little girl
And that will never change
Chorus:
You see a blue and green world
Through dark brown eyes
You find a smiling future
Despite the frowning times
Youll always be
Running towards the rainbow
At the end of the line
Youll always be
Abba's beautiful child
Prayer for Abba’s Beautiful Children
Only Perfect Father
We come to you as Fathers and as Mothers
We come to you as Guardians of the Innocent
We come to you as Guides and Teachers for those following us on the Path
We come to you as Providers and Protectors of the Lives you have Entrusted to Us
We ask for Your Strength and that you Train our Hands for War
As we Fight for their Fragile Hearts
We ask that You lend us the Mind of Messiah, Who Loved Perfectly
As we teach them Your Ways which always lead to Life, as our ways only lead to Death
We ask for your Provision, as this World has been left a desolate battlefield by our Ancestors
As we seek to nourish them into bearing good fruit in their bodies, minds, hearts and Spirits
We ask that you Forgive us our frayed Patience
We ask that you Heal our battered Places
We ask that you Pull us from the Fires we started in Foolishness
We ask that you Mend the Hearts we have Broken
We ask that you glue the Covenants we have left to come Undone
We ask that none of these be their Legacy as it was for Us
We ask most of all, that our Children walk
In the Shalom that we did Not.
“A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
Unless ADONAI builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless ADONAI watches over the city,
the watchman stands guard in vain.
In vain you rise up early and stay up late,
eating the bread of toil—
for He provides for His beloved ones even in their sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage of ADONAI
—the fruit of the womb is a reward.
As arrows in the hand of a mighty man,
so are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they speak with their enemies at the gate.”

Stars That Don't Burn Out
Stars That Don't Burn Out
By Brian Newman
STARS THAT DON’T BURN OUT
Small town voices say you’re too far gone
All these tired, tired lives
Everybody’s got a Radio
But not a single song to call their own
Everybody’s got a white picket fortress
But not a courageous moment to take home
-Here’s to all the words you never spoke
Songs that burned your mouth in silence
Letters that never found a stamp
-Here’s to all the paint you never spilled
Family Portraits in black and white, fragile plastic perfection
Destinations that never found a map
Chorus: Close your eyes Dream out louder
Run until the morning sun outshines the dark lies that they have spun
Drive until the evening brings the silver linings back to you
Close your eyes Dream out louder
We will lay you down
Beneath a blanket of impossibilities
Your star will never burn out
-Raise a glass to the check-out stand Visionaries
Your star will never burn out!
Fly above the gray haired children
In the house that fear has built
Let your hymns of freedom break the chains
Cause it sounds like chained up melodies they’re handing out
-Anthems of Mothers afraid to be alone so they control
Fathers like weary lions locked up in a cage too long
Sons that won’t leave home to find their strength and a reason to go the war
Daughters who want the knight but fear the sword and losing their control
Chorus: Close your eyes Dream out louder
Run until the morning sun outshines the dark lies that they have spun
Drive until the evening brings the silver linings back to you
Close your eyes Dream out louder
We will lay you down
Beneath a blanket of impossibilities
Your star will never burn out
Raise a glass to the check-out stand Visionaries
Your star will never burn out!
-Dream out louder until nobody here
Is afraid to be alive
Friend tonight is yours to be a dreamer
No one here is going to steal the light you shine
Close your eyes Dream out louder
We will lay you down
Beneath a blanket of impossibilities
Your star will never burn out
Raise a glass to the check-out stand Visionaries
Your star will never burn out!
Prayer for The Stars That Don’t Burn Out
Dream Giver
We ask for You to return to us all the Dreams they Stole
We ask for You to lock the door inside that let the Vision Stealer In
We ask you to take us Home where we have never Been
We ask for the Courage to open our eyes and believe in You Again
More than this, We ask for to You show us what You can do through us if we let You
If we let You be the One that is the Source of Our Hope, the One that lets the Impossible Begin
“I will bless ADONAI, who counsels me. Even at night my heart instructs me.”

Confessions of a Tainted Saint
Confessions of a Tainted Saint
By Brian Newman
CONFESSIONS OF A TAINTED SAINT
Brother and Sisters
Let us bow a knee to pray
Today we ask forgiveness
For all the sins that we forgot to say
We are the Silent Stones
We are the Tainted Saints
By now Sodom could have put us all to Shame
By now Gomorrah could have gone in through the pearly Gates
Chorus:
Lord we ask for all the mercy
We have forgotten to hand out
Lord we ask for understanding
For all the mornings we used this pulpit just to shout
We are the Silent Stones
We are the Tainted Saints
Lord we ask for all the mercy
We have forgotten to hand out
We have forgotten to hand out
-These oaken pews in the arena
Turn our thumbs to the gladiators down
These dusty Bibles are on the bookshelf
Turn the t.v. preacher volume up when we hear the cries for help
-Have I become a better man than I once was?
Or have I just become a better showman on this stage?
Have I become a bearer of better fruit than yesteryear?
Or have I just pushed the bitter roots down into the ground?
Chorus:
Lord I ask for all the mercy
I have forgotten to hand out
Lord I ask for understanding
For all the mornings I used this pulpit just to shout
I am the Silent Stone
I am the Tainted Saint
Lord I ask for all the mercy
I have forgotten to hand out
I have forgotten to hand out
-By now Sodom could have put us all to Shame
By now Gomorrah could have gone in through the pearly Gates
We are laughing from our monitors
Where we watch your world as it burns
We are throwing the Stones at our Reflections
We are the tainted Saints drug out to the City Gates
- Lord I ask for all the mercy
I have forgotten to hand out
I have forgotten to hand out
Prayer for The Other Tainted Saints
The Great Forgiver and Only One Who Is True
We have little left to Say
Except that we are Sorry
We have Tainted Your Name to the World
While pretending to be Saints for our Neighbors
We have stained the Truth
We have Painted over the Lies
We have broken our Covenants
We have made a Show instead of making a Change
We are your Tainted Saints, we are your Prodigals Sons and Daughters, playing Older Brothers
And You, and You are the only Way we can be made Whole and Clean
And You, and You are the only Truth we have to Share, that they can still Believe.
Please Help Them to Still Believe.

Grenades in the Garden
Grenades in the Garden
by Brian Newman
GRENADES IN THE GARDEN
This body is not Broken
Not missing all my Blood
Though I am barely Breathing
Though I don’t have the wounds I Should
These thoughts they have been Rusted
Cause I don’t think about nothing but the Rain
How about you?
This trust it has been permanently Busted
Cause I can’t find the bandage and I can’t find the Glue
How about you?
Chorus:
Invisible is this War
They can’t see its mortars in my mind
They can’t see its bullets piercing through my youth
They can’t see the flares lighting up declaring I need Love
They can’t see the Signals or read the Codes or send a Rescue to my Shores
Invisible is this War Inside of Me
How about you?
-There are grenades out in the Garden
Not really it’s just in my Head
Though I’ve seen them rob me of my Brothers
Though now they all explode as I turn all night in my Bed
-
These thoughts they have been Rusted
Cause I don’t think about nothing but the Rain
How about you?
This Calm it has been permanently Surrendered
Cause in my broken mind they burned the Treaties and I can’t find the White Flags too
How about you?
Prayer for Those With Grenades In Their Garden
Warrior God
We ask you to Cleanse us of the blood on our Hands
We ask you to Ceasefire the War inside our Minds
We ask to you to Remind of All that we have Done
We ask to you Forgive Us for all that we Cannot
We ask you to Help us to Forgive Ourselves
We ask you to Hold those we have Left Behind in our Houses
We ask you to Welcome those we left Behind on our Battlefields
We ask you to bring us to a Palace of Peace
Instead of this Dungeon of Fear, Trapped in the Terrible Places we have Been
“Behold, it is Solomon’s traveling couch—
around it are sixty warriors from the warriors of Israel.
All of them wield a sword, experts in war.
Each man with his sword on his thigh against terrors of the night.”

Nosferatu-Romeo
Nosferatu-Romeo
By Brian Newman
NOSFERATU-ROMEO
Another murmured moment
Baby murders slowly
Thoughts she thought had died
Went to find another hand
To hold the hammer
Watch your emotions crucified
Said he left you drained and crying
And I'm not surprised you called tonite
Yes I know its very late
But you know that its okay
CHORUS:
Another liar,
Another lover,
Replacement for another
Need that you won't name
-Is it you,
Or is it really
The sweetness of your nightmare that's denied?
Neon lights, will never lead you
Anywhere close enough to love
Selling off your heart so cheap
Won't stop Cinderella's clock before midnight
Candlelight and roses
Dilute the mind these drugs
A hunger is pawing at your heart shaped box
And February pills won't cure the ache
You loan the key to careless hands
Won't you let me break the lock they place
CHORUS:
Another liar,
Another vampire hypnotized you
And tonite another bed has burned your mind
-Is it easy,
Or are you really
This helpless to say no
Before another nosferatu-romeo has you in his hold
Cheaper Lovers and Cheaper Lines will never lead you
Anywhere close enough to love
Open windows, will never leave you
Anywhere close enough to love
Don't you hate the stupid boys
Who only care blonde from red
We could take it to the limit
Only with the softest kiss
Say goodnite at the door
And you'll never feel like this
-Pull you in
To my open ribs
Be close enough to love
Leave the Nosferatu-Romeos
To finally face the burning sun alone
Cause they like to lurk
Nowhere close enough to love
Prayer for Victims of Nosferatu-Romeos
and Nosferatu Juliettes
Creator of Real Love
We ask you to restore our Hopes that Love can be Better
We ask you to come into our Cynicism and give it better Dreams
We ask you to come into our Romanticism and give it a new Reality
We ask you to come into our History and give it a new Future
We ask you to come into our Future and give it old Hopes
We ask that you Mend our Hearts which adore their own Killers and hate their own Surgeons
We ask that you Reprogram our Minds which were Set to Self-Destruct
We ask that these Butterflies finally flutter to the Sound of the Truth and not Lies
We ask that no more Nosferatu Romeo’s or Nosferatu Juliette’s have us in their Hold

Girl They Stole Away
Girl They Stole Away
By Brian Newman
GIRL THEY STOLE AWAY
Hey do you remember Sending these words to me
Sometimes I had to wonder
If I would ever be enough
Said that this would show me
The kind of man you need
By these words I'll live my life.......
The strength of a man is not in
How hard he hits
But in how tender he can touch
The strength of a man is not in
How many women he has loved
But in how true he can be to
The one he's trying to love
CHORUS:
All of this I'm going to be
Man enough to find the girl
The boys have stole away
The boys have stole away........
Given so many bitter kisses
Sometimes you swear your through
Late at night you wonder
If this love will make a fool of you
Oh do you remember
Someone sending these words to you.......
The strength of a love is not in
The burning of a bridge
It's in the turning of a page
Do you remember us
Could it be just you and me
Regardless I am here
Despite the ghost you bring
Because through you I've learned
Strength of a man is not in
The deep tone of his voice
It's in the gentle words he whispers
Whispers in your ear
Strength of a man is not in How he makes love
But in the understanding
That there is more to making love
Than just making love....
CHORUS: All of this I'm going to be
Man enough to find the girl
The boys have stole away.........
The boys have stole away....
(Lyrics in Red taken from a Poem by an Unknown Author)
Prayer for Girl They Stole Away
Father of Every Daughter
We ask that you forgive us for how we have broken the Hearts of your Daughters
We ask that you Restore the integrity of the words Trust, and Honor and Love
We ask for Stronger Hearts, Kinder Hands, and more Loyal Eyes
We ask for the “Wisdom of Tenderness” and the Courage in Pursuing
We ask for better men for our own Daughters than we have Been
We ask for Sons that walk not in our Sins
We ask you for Second Chances at being Brothers, Fathers and Husbands Again
“In the same way, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way. Though they are weaker partners, honor them as equal heirs of the grace of life. In this way, your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7

Apology
Apology
By Brian Newman
APOLOGY
Wonder now just how you feel
Someday time will grant me grace
And you will see
Every moment since we broke
I've begun to change
One day soon I might be the one you needed
Thought you found In our summer
Back before the boy in me
Went and stole it all away I wonder now
If he's sorry
Time, can't change the past Why, did I run and hide
Tonite, as I look back I,
Just wanna let you know I'm sorry
Know you've heard this all before
Now it’s for real and not just wanting
To get me back To where I'm supposed to be
In your arms Before the boy in me
Left the man in me and the woman in you both lonely -
Always wondered how
You got So much less than you deserve
Seems that fate has found A blindfold for her eyes
Always got in return Much less than you've given
Time, can't change the past
Why, did I run and hide
Tonite, as I look back I,
Just wanna let you know I'm sorry
This is much less than I need to bleed
For all your happiness I've taken
Hope you find every dream that lied
Said it hid inside my ribs
Take their dying light
Maybe you can make it burn on A little longer
I just wanna let you know I'm sorry
I just wanna let you know I'm sorry
If you can’t forget maybe God can forgive me?
I just wanna let you know I’m sorry
Prayer for Those In Need Of Apology
To The God Who Offers the Grace of Forgiveness
We ask that you Forgive for us how we have harmed your Children, including Ourselves
We ask that you wash away the Weakness of our Tongues
We ask that you speak Louder to their Ears than our Words that Hurt
We ask that you Bind all that we have Broken
We ask you Forgive us for not giving our own Pain a Purpose
We ask that you turn the Bitter Seeds we have spreads into Sweeter Fruit
We ask that you turn to Beauty from Ashes the Fires that we Sparked
We ask that you Heal the Sickness we have brought to other Hearts
We ask that you Restore all that we have Stolen
We ask that you make Myrrh out of the Memories best left Forgot
We ask you to Forgive all that we Did, and all that we did Not.
“Come now, let us reason together,” says ADONAI. “Though your sins be like scarlet, they will be as white as snow.
Though they be red like crimson, they will become like wool.”

Rocks Could Scream
Rocks Could Scream
By Brian Newman
Rocks Would Scream (Silence is Killing Me)
Silence Is,
Silence Is,
Killing Me
My Silence Is
My Silence Is
Killing You and Me
These Rocks could scream it
But it shouldn’t have to be that way
Chorus:
Take this heart
But not just for today
Take my words
And have Your Say
Take these hands
And rearrange
All my labor
Into fruit that saves
Into fruit that saves
These rocks could scream
But it shouldn’t have to be that way
-Silence Is
Silence Is
Silence is Not the Way
I am
I have been
Ready for a change
Chorus:
Take this heart
But not just for today
Take my words
And have Your Say
Take these hands
And rearrange
All my labor
Into fruit that saves
Into fruit that saves
These rocks could scream
But it shouldn’t have to be that way
-The children cry
And it shouldn’t have to be that way
Were missing Love
Were kissing pain
And Lord it stabs your heart
Shouldn’t it do mine the same?
Silence is,
Silence is,
My Silence is killing You and me
It’s just the same
People dying inside and out
Every single day
My Rock is crying streams
But it shouldn’t be this way
My silence is,
Killing you and me
- Prayer for Rocks Could Scream-
King Worthy of Our Worship
We come to you with an Apology for our Silence
We come to you in Repentance for giving the Affection due You to Another
We come to you today in place of our other Lovers
Lovers of Entertainment and Pleasure, of Glory and Gold, of Comfort and our own Kingdom Come
We ask that you remove the Scepters from our own “Empires of Dirt”
We ask that you help us Cast Our Crowns at your Feet and not just our Needs
We need your help to seek your Face and not just your Hand
We need your Help to seek not your Treasures and your Glory
We have found cheap substitutes in Tradition and Religion, for your Spirit and your Truth
We have forgotten that the fortune one is he who finds your Heart
“But an hour is coming—it is here now—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people as His worshipers. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23

Stars That Don't Burn Out
Stars That Don't Burn Out
By Brian Newman
STARS THAT DON’T BURN OUT
Small town voices say you’re too far gone
All these tired, tired lives
Everybody’s got a Radio
But not a single song to call their own
Everybody’s got a white picket fortress
But not a courageous moment to take home
-Here’s to all the words you never spoke
Songs that burned your mouth in silence
Letters that never found a stamp
-Here’s to all the paint you never spilled
Family Portraits in black and white, fragile plastic perfection
Destinations that never found a map
Chorus: Close your eyes Dream out louder
Run until the morning sun outshines the dark lies that they have spun
Drive until the evening brings the silver linings back to you
Close your eyes Dream out louder
We will lay you down
Beneath a blanket of impossibilities
Your star will never burn out
-Raise a glass to the check-out stand Visionaries
Your star will never burn out!
Fly above the gray haired children
In the house that fear has built
Let your hymns of freedom break the chains
Cause it sounds like chained up melodies they’re handing out
-Anthems of Mothers afraid to be alone so they control
Fathers like weary lions locked up in a cage too long
Sons that won’t leave home to find their strength and a reason to go the war
Daughters who want the knight but fear the sword
and losing their Post-Modern Role

I Believed
I Believed
By Brian Newman
I BELIEVED
I believed
In the power of a lonely smile
I believed
That just this one kiss
Could light the skies
If we really wished (this moment would never die)
Tomorrow became today
Then you wouldn’t know me
Cause there’s a child inside of me
Broken boy you had yet to see
All the love he’s never known
Is the wind that kept him froze
But he could have burned for you
If you wanted him too
But he could have burned so bright for you
Did you want him too???
Chorus: We said Let us burn the cold dark skies
Let us melt these graffiti walls tonite
And the door that we’ve kept closed
Blocks the hallway that leads us home
And all the love we’ve never known
Was waiting just down the road
Was waiting just down the road
But that Road didn’t lead us Home
-You relived
The night your stars were stole
You relived
The times your tender hands were burned
By a kiss that lit the skies
And fluttered down into the sea
Did you really think (this night it would be right)
Tomorrow would never become today
Then you wouldn’t have held onto me
Cause there’s a place beside of me
That you would never like to stay
All the memories you came to see unfroze
Didn’t let you stand too close
But could you have rested safe yes, you
If you really wanted too
But you could have been blessed in this place yes, you
If you had wanted too
Oh did you ever want him too??
Chorus: We said Let us burn the cold dark skies
Let us melt these graffiti walls tonite
And the door that we’ve kept closed
Blocks the hallway that leads us home
And all the love we’ve never known
Was waiting just down the road
Was waiting just down the road
But that Road didn’t lead us Home
Prayer for Those Who Believed
Creator of Second Chances
We come to you with Fractured Faith
Fractured Faith in ourselves, in our hopes, our thoughts, our loves, and even in You
We come to you with the Best Things Broken
Broken by Everything we thought would be our Salvation and Solid Ground
We aren’t sure if you will come Through
We are sure however that there is no other Glue
Cause everyone else failed to bring their cape to save the Day
We believed and it Broke Us
We had Hope but it Choked the Life from Us
We got nothing left but Desperation
We got nothing left but our Hearts on the Floor
We are nothing but the Children waiting on a Father just like You
We are wishing we didn’t live like Orphans,
but to take us Home or not is Up To You.
“In that day you will say: “I will give You thanks, ADONAI, for though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.”

In A Letter to the Radio
In A Letter to the Radio
By Brian Newman
Letter From The Radio
Hear you're painting a new world
Don't like where you're left
Hey it’s okay now
I'm writing letters to the radio
Maybe this set of notes
Will be the one to make big
Though it don't pay the bills just yet
-Anyways wanna grab some coffee
Wanna hold a hand
Unwrap your thoughts and
Find a smile that comprehends
CHORUS:
I wanna run with your soul, lover of mine
Untangle your mind
There's a world behind your eyes
That turns in perfect rhyme
Heard about you on the radio......
Didn't think you could be true
When I heard about you
In a Letter from the radio....
-Learned you've done a lot of living
In not a lot of time
Hey that’s okay now
I've done a lot of dreaming
When I should have been dulling the sharp edges of my mind
I've done a lot of writing, playing
When I should have been working away my life
Or so they say….
Until I heard about you
In a Letter from the radio....
-Way you live is mesmerizing
You're shining so bright
I really like your thoughts
I'd really afraid to walk away
I really think I'm trapped here by your smile
And I really don't mind
Wouldn't it great if
You and I together, have finally found our place in time
These rooms are so much cardboard
These books are endless but no truths are within
Even if comets collided
No one would look up
So many things we could say
About of history and our bad luck
But we should close the old doors
Take it by faith, and begin it again
CHORUS:
Do you wanna walk on impossible waters
Under a sky that won't fall
Laugh at nothing for hours
Heal an open wound
Heard about you on the radio.......
Didn't think you could be true
When I heard about you
In a Letter from the Radio....
-Later when I call you
Will you jump to the line
Still talk forever
Will we be like we should?
Will we be like we could?
Heard I might not recognize you
As time turns the page
Just one chapter haunts me
If I miss a line
Will you close the book?
Heard about you,
In a Letter from the radio
Will we be like The Us in the end,
The radio said we should
A Forever and Ever Amen?
Prayer for Our Letter From the Radio
Blesser of Intimacy
We are here to ask for a the Restoration of our Sexuality
We have “lost something precious” by force or by Choice
We cannot get it back on our own without a Fight, without a Miracle
We need these scattered pieces of our Heart, given to too many Lovers
We need them glued together for unwrapping by the last one we are to Kiss
We need them gathered again for the last hand we are to Hold
We need this mending to let ourselves be held without Suspicion
We need this mending to be let ourselves give not just our heart but our Control
We thank you because it can done by You and You Alone
“You have captivated my heart,
my sister, my bride—
you captivated me with one of your eyes,
with one jewel from your necklace.
How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride!
How much better is your love than wine,
and the fragrance of your oils better than all spices!"

Complicated
Complicated
By Brian Newman
COMPLICATED
Yesterday I walked outside Just to get some sun
Then the sky fell down Laughing to myself
Cause somehow I knew That it would be raining
Always got to be......Complicated
Today I drove out to your place Just to get your smile
And I forgot to bring a flower To turn your frown
Baby you were crying Cause of the pain and cause I was trying-Complicated
Complicated Oh we shouldn't be
Everything so simple Gets confused just for me and you
-Pouring out a life On a table from the puzzle box
Put together you a prettier life On a table from the puzzle box
And then the pieces all get dropped Frazzling the vision for which we Fought
Always got to be......Complicated
Tonight I went And put it in a poem always Knowing
I can't get no gravity on my side Thought I was alive one time
But ink pens broke the news That everyone every day is surely dying
You try so hard to shine But like me you're still waiting
Waiting on a reason, Aren’t we always living in the Waiting Season
Complicated Oh we shouldn't be Everything simple,
Gets confused just for me and you
Can't take it so you hide And when I pick-up the line No one answers
Cost of Dreaming has risen so much your Realities been disconnected
Until stars come out to shine We're on the roof laughing till we're crying
Cause tomorrow this simple moment Will again be so….Complicated
Prayer for Those Who Find It All Too Complicated
To The God Who Works All Things Out For the Good of those who Love Him
We ask that you gather our Tragedies and transform them into Triumphs
We ask that our Empty Hands be open to Lift Others out of the Pit
We ask that you place these Broken Pieces into a Mosaic of Perseverance
We ask that you fashion our Red Cheeks into War Paint
We ask that you give our Pain a Purpose
“Now we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”

Episode-Overcoming Our Upbringing
For My King
For My King
By Brian Newman
FOR MY KING
As my young life fades into the dark
Reach out for your light
Where do you hide
Can't you see me as I drift and slide
In and out of anger, desperation,
No Anchor
Cause of the words that you aren’t here to say
CHORUS:
Have I had time to fall this far
Always wondered where you are
Father shouldn't you be the one I call
Said you would be the one I call
-But the battles I've won don't free my heart
Cause for my king they were never enough
Walking the earth
Over this screaming heart I can't hear a softer voice
Searching for a map to find my king
But I found it tore
Reaching deep down into the pockets
Of the wise to find a key
But its rusted and broke
Reaching out to the one who I should know
Pleading to hear you say the words
Confess you brought my birth
Searching for you to find you gone
CHORUS:
Have I had time to fall this far
Always wondered where you are
Father shouldn't you be the one I call
Said you would be the one I call
-But the battles I've won won't free my heart
Cause for my King they were never enough
Conquered the world all by myself
Could topple your crown from where I stand
And I don't feel that you
Even know I'm here
Cause for my King I am never enough
Prayer For Those Searching for Their King
To Abba God, The God who Fathers the Fatherless
We ask that you Protect us where our Fathers were Not
We ask that you Provide for us where our Fathers were Not
We ask that you be a Priest for us where our Fathers were Not
We ask that you Lead us places our Fathers would Not
We ask that we become the Men or Marry the Men our Fathers were Not
Finally, We ask that you help us Forgive our Fathers for being the Men that they were Not
“He will turn the hearts of fathers to the children, and the hearts of children to their fathers—else I will come and strike the land with utter destruction.”

Bluer Skies
Bluer Skies
By Brian Newman
BLUER SKIES
She pours cinnamon into her cappuccino
But she’s got ginger in her hair
And she’s got something sweeter in her smile
-She’s pours out no sugar coated excuses
About not living the life she’s given
This girl has got no room for years of alibis
Cause she’s got a gentle fire that won’t be satisfied
CHORUS: Bluer skies are always in her eyes
And in her white lace mind anyone can fly
If they just believe
If she just believed
If she just believed in him
For a while
-The boys bring her flowers
And she just gives them back a smile
Another swears his gold will save her from that tower
But we both know he missed her heart by a mile
-So she saves her kiss for another hour
Keeps her eyes open for the Romeo that’s right
Another knight in armor shining never been rusted or battered
But we both know he won’t survive her battles tonight
Cause she’s got deep scars we know that he can’t find
CHORUS: Bluer skies are always in her eyes
And in her white lace mind anyone can fly
If they just believe If she just believed
If she just believed in him
For a while
-I tell her about my forgotten dreams
The ones I’ve loved are the ones that leave
She gives that smile that just stops time
And promises I’ll be fine
Bluer skies are always in her eyes
And in her white lace mind anyone can fly
If they just believe
-She keeps a sadness no one sees but me
In the heart she just can’t hide
At 2.a.m. when nobody’s around
Bluer skies are raining down
Cause her daddy never had the time
She calls me up in the dead of night
Apologizing like it’s a crime
By now she knows that I don’t mind
And I convince her again
That her secret star will always shine
CHORUS: Bluer skies are always in her eyes
And in her white lace mind anyone can fly
If they just believe If he had just believed
If he had just spent some time with her
If he just believed in her
For a while
-Bluer skies are always in her eyes
And in her white lace mind even she can fly
For a while
Prayer for Those Seeking Bluer Skies
Creator of the Beautiful
We ask that you bring people into our lives that we cannot Forget
We ask that we have our Eyes opened to see how they Shine in the Dark
We ask that we have our Ears opened to hear their Soul’s own unique Song
We ask that our Hearts be pulled towards the ones who are meant to Share our Path
We ask that we our Words be Seeds that bring Fruit in the Right Season
We ask that our Years produce a Harvest of Joy in the ones we Cherish

Telescope
Telescope
By Brian Newman
TELESCOPE
My friend he has found a telescope
For taking his pictures of home
Round this town nobody looks up from the ground
Somehow he’s going to turn her life around
Holding on to a promise that begins and ends before and after him
Taking notes from the lessons they didn’t learn
Living larger than the lives that you’ve been shown
So much wiser than the years that you’ve watched turn
-My friend she has found a comrade
Playing guitar in her music box
Coming in above the static they dance to
Listening for a voice that calls from home
And a dream that’s just around the block
CHORUS:
Living larger than the lives that you’ve been shown
So much wiser than the years you’ve watched turn
Running further than these chains will let you move
Earned a token for a cloud that leaves tonite
And a telescope to see your life unfold
-They gave them a broken pen and tattered paper
Together they turned it into moon and stars
Every clock that’s on these walls
Takes a hundred years to turn
Writing about more sailboats
And visions most can’t see
All sleeping drunken on the shores
While the ships are coming in
And setting out again
Both are hanging by the silver lining
Of a cloud that leaves tonite
CHORUS:
Living larger than the lives that you’ve been shown
So much wiser that the years you’ve watch burn
Running further than these chains will let you move
Earned a token for a cloud that leaves tonite
And a telescope to see your life unfold
Prayer for Those with Broken Telescopes
Father of Visions and Visionaries
We come to you asking for the return of our Visions
Because all of our Telescopes were broken in the Years
We come to you seeking the Origin of our Dreams
Because they have left us for somewhere we have yet to have Gone
We come to you asking for Open Windows
Because ours have been dewed over with these Tears
We come to you for the delivery again of all you have gave Us
We had forgotten to hold them close and so they Disappeared.

Compass
Compass
By Brian Newman
COMPASS
Caught in that moment forever with you forever
Between might have been and what will be
Don’t know where I stand
Lost myself to see
In the end it’s you I found
And now I’m wondering
Where this plane will land
CHORUS:
My crazy life has shattered
But in the broken glass
I found a compass
Pointing me straight to you
-So many hear the music
But don’t dare to dance the dance
I hear you calling my name
And I gotta take this chance
-Now I’m wondering
How long this flight will last
Could have walked on forever and,
To catch another train
Could have left my heart to rest
But I had no choice but to ask your name
CHORUS:
My crazy life has shattered
But in the broken glass
I found a compass
Pointing me straight to you
-I’m seeing faces
But they don’t have a place
I’m hearing voices
Besides you, no one has a name
I’m taking chances
That I don’t get to choose
Because inside me there is a compass
Pointing me straight to you
-My body is aching
Begging me to stop
No, my heart is louder
And he won’t let me halt
Until the arrow is sleeping
Cause its led me to you
CHORUS:
My crazy life has shattered
But in the broken glass
I found a compass
Pointing me straight to you
Prayer for Those Needing A Compass
God of Direction
We need your Direction, your Instruction,
As it is said in the Ancient Tongue
Your Spirit (Ruach) and Your Torah (Book of Truth)
We have worn a path to the Tree of Knowledge
We have lost The Way to the Tree of Life
We need a still small Voice in the Day
We need a loud Cry in the Night
We need a Compass because our Spiritual Senses are all Dulled
We need a Map for this Brave New World
We need a Lamp for our Feet before we Fall
“Your ears will hear a word behind you saying: “This is the way, walk in it. When you turn to the right,
or when you turn to the left.”

Forgotten Song
Forgotten Song
By Brian Newman
FORGOTTEN SONG
Will you call me to your place
Palace of poets where we're safe
From a world of war and rage
Would you fall with me to the knees
Would you pray with me that we both sleep
Surrounded
By the Truths so Epic they will heal
Can you feel this?
We're held inside this scene tonite
By the weight of a Gravity all too real
And the incense of burning motions
We can't fight
Inside the pounding of the rain
Within the heartbeat of the flame
Will you be the one?
To maybe play my Forgotten Song?
CHORUS:
Will you play my forgotten song?
Will you call the voice I've lost
Are you from the promised land
You hold the water in those hands
I'll show you all I am
Just to drink it from your palm
Will you be the one
Will you play my forgotten song?
Darling,
Set me free to see
All the reasons why I bleed
Chalk your thoughts upon
The walls around my heart
You've given me a reason to believe
I am,
Your wounded soldier here tonite
So won't you stitch my soul up tight
Let me rest here for a while
Within the pyre of your eyes
(Like a phoenix)
After your love I'll rise refined
-Something larger than I've learned of
-Somebody bigger than I was born from
-Someone nobler than I have been
-You're a dream sweeter than I let in
CHORUS:
Will you play my Forgotten Song
Will you call the voice I've lost
Are you the vision in starlit skin
Are you the vessel in satin sail
Here to set this anchored soul on out?
After Adam and Eve have lost their leaves
After we've both eaten from the tree
Seen the secrets time will free
Will our wounds no longer bleed
I've seen you, but will you still-believe in me?
Will you be the one?
Will you play my Forgotten Song?
Prayer for Forgotten Song
Creator of Intimacy
We ask that you step into our Marriages
We ask that you reverse the Curse of Leaving Eden
We ask that you remove these Fig Leaves between our selfish selves and our Beloved
We ask for a big love, a brave love, a bold love, and a Holy Love
A love that is Kadosh, set-apart, something unlike the world East of Eden has ever Known
We ask for Faith where there was Fear
We ask for New and Burning Love where there was Lukewarm Affection and Worn out Lust
We ask that the Cherubim Guard our Bedrooms from the Lies that we have been Sold about our sewn up selves and our Beloved
We ask that we not forget the Healing was Real and Whole
When the Stitches come between our Souls
We ask for Olive Branches where the Fig Leaves
Once made us Alone
“Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they knew that they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made for themselves loin-coverings.” Genesis 3:7

Never Home
Never Home
By Brian Newman
Never Home
Selling out one Sunday Afternoon
Telling everything
She was just another friend to never see again
(All I needed was everything again)
Who became a this week’s shining queen
-I would not be lonesome again because my hope is wearing thin
Of course I could not be her king
So I became the stumbling hero here
Oh the memory stings
Remember her and all like her lying wake most nights
Lying to myself so I can sleep
After I sing about her and her and her
And this broken romantic record on repeat for the crowd again
I'll drown out the memory with six strings
CHORUS:
Running through my mind,
Gotta get them outta here
Running from this lonesome place
Pulling Grace from my mistakes
Talking with a picture frame
Running outta here
Faces and Names may Change
But the Lonely is going, going never gone
I have slept in many houses, but never found a home
Never found a home
Seemed like the perfect escape
Just another magazine face
We were all artists and forgot it
Singing someone else's song
-Left my mind in Memory Land
-Left my faith in France
-Left her mark upon my heart
-Left my devotion with the scars
I should have left these hopeless romantic notions years ago
But these Dreams stopped back there somewhere
While the years they just rolled on
CHORUS:
Running through my mind,
Gotta get them outta here
Running from this lonesome place
Pulling grace from my mistakes
Talking with a picture frame
Running outta here
Faces and Names may Change
But the Lonely is going, going never gone
I have slept in many houses, but never found a home
Never found a home
Out without my gravity
Latch onto stars I find
Sooner than I'd like they fade away
This astronaut floats on
Prayer for Those Never Home
Creator of Hearts
We are here for Salvation
Salvation for our Spirits yes, but also for our Souls
Recue for our Mind, our Will, our Hearts
Our Hearts most of All
Cause we leave them in rocky hands and they come back Bruised
Cause we send them to wolves and they come back Torn
Cause we send them to find the Light and they get lost in the Dark
Our Hearts most of All
Cause we only ask for Love from those who know what they Want
When they want more than We’ve Got and less than We Are
Cause they never stopped to ask you what we are Worth
But we can’t really blame them Alone
Cause we are the ones who forgot it First
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them shall fall to the ground apart from your Father’s consent. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29

The Showman
Does carrying that Crown never get too heavy
Take up all your days until you’re too old to carry on?
Does burying all that widow’s gold
Take up too much room inside your soul until its’ gone?
Are there any Inner Rooms left Inside?
Are there any Sacred Hours you can Find?
Where your sons can take to Flight?
Where your daughters can Delight?
Where your wife can hide from the Storm Outside?
Where you haven’t filled them up with Showman’s Pride?
Chorus: On Showman,
When the Lights Don’t Glow
Do you got nothing left but the memory a Show?
When the Curtain Falls Do you got no glory left at All?
When the Airtime Fails Do those reruns become your private Hell?
Do those reruns become your private Hell?
Does carrying that all that shame ever get to heavy
Take up all your days until you’re too old to carry on?
Does eating up all the praise and applause
Take up too much room inside your soul until its’ gone?
-Are there any Treasured Memories left Inside
Are there any Buried Seasons you can Find
Where your sons learned what is wrong and what is Right?
Where your daughters learned they are worth the Fight?
Where your wife found a stage on you where she can Shine?
Where you haven’t built them by the Showman’s Design?
-And when the audience heads home
Where will You go to be Whole?
Oh, Showman, the Joker has got you blinded by the Glow?
Oh, Showman, it is you thats missing it all and didn't Know
Oh, Showman, does the cold wind ever blow
Hard enough to push you off that Stage
Hard enough to push you off that Stage

We ask you to give us Shepherds after your own Heart
We ask that we follow by your Spirit and not by Our Eyes
We ask that we are ruled by Statesmen instead of Politicians
We ask that we led by Leaders instead of Liars
We ask for Pastors and Prophets in the Pews instead of Pimps and Profiteers
We ask to bow our knees beside Broken Saints instead of Shiny Showmen
We ask that we be Washed by the Blood instead of Whitewashed by the Crowd
“But woe to you, Torah scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut people out of the kingdom of heaven. For you do not enter yourselves, nor do you let those enter who are trying to go in” Matthew 23:13

I Don't Know The Answers
I Don't Know The Answers
By Brian Newman
I DON’T KNOW THE ANSWERS
Take me, from this roller coaster
Take me, from the questions spinning round my head
Shake me, from my death grip on the endings
Shake me, from my stronghold on the hinges
Keep my, eyes upon the path of right
Keep me, from chasing down the other side
Chorus: I don’t know the Answers
And for the First Time that’s alright
No more, waiting up all night
No more, looking over my shoulder
No more, dragging my own boulders
No more, feeling like I’ll never be a light
I don’t know the Answers
And for the First Time that’s alright
- Somehow, now it seems I too can be alright
Somewhere, I lost my obsession with the inflections
Someone, you came along me to stop my spinning
Somewhere, your gravity caught me in its might
- Take me, from this roller coaster
Take me, from the questions spinning round my head
Shake me, from my death grip on the endings
Shake me, from my stronghold on the hinges
Keep my, eyes upon the path of right
Keep me, from chasing down the other side
Chorus:
I don’t know the Answers
And for the First Time that’s alright
No more, waiting up all night
No more, looking over my shoulder
No more, dragging my own boulders
No more, feeling like I’ll never be a light
I don’t know the Answers
And for the First Time that’s alright
- Cause there is a God and it’s not me
So I will just let Him hold together
His Universe while I sleep tight
Cause it’s not mine, it’s not my life it’s not my fight
Cause there is a God and it’s not me
So I will just let Him hold together His Universe while I sleep tight
Cause it’s not mine, it’s not my light it’s not my right
So I will just let Him hold together His Universe while I sleep tight
While I sleep tight for the first time, tonight.
Prayer for those Who Don't Know The Answers
Author of Mysteries
Please help us to walk away from the Tree of Knowledge
Lead us on the winding path to the Tree of Life
Give us a Love for Mystery instead of a Fear of the Unknown
Increase our Faith instead of our Comfort
Remind us gently that a Good God cannot be found in the Mirror
And the Human Mind is a wonderful Servant
but a Tyrannical Master
“Trust in ADONAI with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.”

Witness
Witness
By Brian Newman
WITNESS
Said to me nobody’s listening
As you scream
You’ve got no witnesses The crimes unseen
And who would really care?
When you’re not here
Will it be the same?
Will it fill the air?
-People you’ve been passing through
Now a piece of you Tomorrow comes to steal you back
Before you go, Just thought you should know
Yeah I just thought you should know
CHORUS:
Not just another day
Not another empty face
You’re a part of me
Your witness here,
I heard,
I see
Not invisible
My arms are opening
To catch you when you fall.
-Midnight melted slow
Once you called
To tell me you’d be gone
When tomorrow comes
Hung up the phone
These rooms are so alone
And you said to me
Who will know?
I’m invisible Nothings gonna change,
home is so alone
Even when I’m here I’m gone
Everywhere is so alone
CHORUS: Not just another day
Not another empty face
You’re a part of me
Your witness here,
I heard,
I see
Not invisible
My arms are opening
To catch you when you fall
Said tonite nobody’s breaking inside
Cause I’m gone
Well you lied
Said you’ve got no witnesses
No one will try To catch you when you fall
I’m witnessing
Eyes are opened wide
I’m never abandoning
My arms are opening
To catch you when you fall
To catch you if you fall
Prayer for Witness
To the God Who Is Judge
Prayer for Those Without A Witness
To the God Who Is Judge,
We ask that You send your Servants and your Messengers
As Witnesses to the Pain, Loneliness and Injustices
That we have endured through all our Years.
We ask that you Write them in Your Book
That all that was stolen would be Recorded for Justice
We ask that the Lonely be Placed in Homes
We ask that the Single be Married
We ask that the Married be Loved
We ask that the Elderly be Visited
We ask that the Sick be Restored
We ask that the Lonely be Embraced
We ask that the Children be Protected
We ask that the Parents be Provided with Wisdom and Patience
We ask that the Broken Hearts be Glued
until they are Beautiful Again
We ask that Beaten Bodies are made Perfect and New
We ask that the Fractured Minds be Healed and Seamless
We ask that Shattered Spirits become Stitched back Whole
“You have recorded my wanderings.
You put my tears in Your bottle.
Are they not in Your book?” Psalm 56:9

Still I Listen
Still I Listen
By Brian Newman
Still I Listen
I just knew that Tonight all the Stars could Fall
We would break the Chains from our Souls and who knows then….
But the Sky above me is black as my Sin
I just knew that the Best Things,
We would find a Home in a Heart for all of them…
But today the Best Things got Thrown Away Again
-Still I listen for the Saviour’s Song
Still I listen for the Saviour’s Song
Calling “Rise Up” to Dry Bones
And “Fight On” to Old Souls
And Say One More Prayer cause “Fear is not the End of This”
-I just knew when I told you the Dawn is coming my Friend
That the Nosferatu Romeos would be slain when Prince Charming
Rides his White Horse up into that broke down Palace you’ve been Living In
-I just knew when I told you the Complications are coming back Together
That the Puzzle Pieces would be falling back together like the Box
Was never ripped open when you were too young to put them back Again
-Still I listen for the Saviour’s Song
Still I listen for the Saviour’s Song
Calling “Rise Up” to Dry Bones
And “Fight On” to Old Souls
And Say One More Prayer cause “Fear is not the End of This”
-Accept this Apology but Accept this Hope with it
That the Girl They Stole Away for a Night without a Ring
And the Boy who was never Strong Enough to please his King
Will have their turn to Sing
-Cause still they listen for the Saviour’s Song
Cause still they listen for the Saviour’s Song
Calling “Rise Up” to Dry Bones
And “Fight On” to Old Souls
And Say One More Prayer cause “Fear is not the End of This”
And Say One More Prayer cause “Fear is not the End of This”
("Fear is Not The End of This" is from an Edward Kowalzsyk song)
Prayer for Those Still Listening Despite The Disappointment
Narrator of our Lives
We ask that You give our Mess a Mission
We ask that You give our Pain a Purpose
We ask that there be Melody and Harmony to these Tangled Lyrics
We ask that there be sung somewhere
A Soundtrack to the Story of our Lives
More Beautiful than the Sound of our Broken Moments
We ask You for a bigger Picture
More than Fears and Tears that Haunted Us
More than waiting on Ships of Hope that never reached the Shore
We ask that we one day wear our White Stones Loud
Cause how they would portray us in the Script is only Orphan Souls
We ask you to retell us all we Missed
Cause You are the Only Director Who can write us a Better Life
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Ruach is saying to Messiah’s communities. To the one who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone—and written on the stone a new name that no one knows except the one who receives it.” Revelation 2:17

California
California
By Brian Newman
CALIFORNIA
Wasted my days at the Alternative CoffeeHouse
The summer before they closed it down
Turned a corner store into a coffeeshop
Like a little piece of California in our town
For Freaks and Geeks and Poets Without Pens
For Dreamers who Never Left the Ground
If they told you, you were lost
In our palace of poets you'd be found
With a guitar, or an inkpen
Idea burning bright
Candles flickered on until the unwelcome sun
Like us all just barely hanging on
To the moment that we shine
CHORUS:
Wish I was in California
Somebody teach me how to smile
Like you did, like I wish you’d do again.
Who was I,
When I laid my head down in your lap
Who was I with you and them? I wanna be him again
That smile we passed around
Didn't go home with anyone
Kept it there as our little secret
They can’t steal away with all their whitewashed sin
Besides who would understand
That we don't care for where you're going
Who you were, or what you've done
All we know is to take you as we find you
And to play our anthems, as you sing along
CHORUS:
Wish I was in California
Somebody teach me how to smile
Like you did, like I wish you’d do again.
Who was I,
When I laid my head down in your lap
Who was I with you and them? I wanna be him again
We learned a little about this life
You've got to choose your destination well
But be in no rush,
You'll get there soon enough
Don't have to live between each crisis in the making
Just gotta let a well known stranger's song
Carry you along
Wish I was in California
Somebody teach me how to smile
Like you did, like I wish you’d do again
Who is black-n-white inside
And wouldn't give it all
Just to be, collecting
Colors as they fall
Out of grace and a palace of poets
Here we're safe
From a world of war and rage
In August they closed our Alternative
Said we spoke our minds to loud
What were we supposed to choose?
Black and White Dreams or Walking Round all Black and Blue
From this small town attitude and small town abuse?
CHORUS:
Wish I was in California
Somebody teach me how to smile
Like you did, like I wish you’d do again.
Who was I,
When I laid my head down in your lap
Who was I with you and them? I wanna be him again
Prayer for Those Seeking A California
To The Artist who has Crafted us all
We come to you asking for Homes in other Hearts
We asked that we be Assigned to our own Tribes
We Petition you boldly for our Place in Your Kingdom
We seek from you a Palace of Poets where we are Safe
We ask that you remember we are Orphans in this World at War and Rage
We Plead that other Eyes and Hearts may See
We ask that they see how you Stitched us with Purpose and Molded us with a Plan
We ask that they understand the Mission we have been asked to Bear like a Ring
We ask You for Fellow Travelers as Comrades and Muses and Friends
We ask for the Names on our White Stones to be Read as we Sleep and Dream
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Ruach is saying to Messiah’s communities. To the one who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna,[ and I will give him a white stone—and written on the stone a new name that no one knows except the one who receives it.”

Song for Someone
Song for Someone
By Brian Newman
Song for Someone
Tonight,
For the first time- I picked up for your Call Yet
I’m not Begging to Stay Or
Asking how much Labor will this Cost for Love?
Today,
For the very first time-I walked into your Arms Yet
I’m coming to Life instead of Fading Away And
Asking how many Nights will we have until its Gone?
Tomorrow,
For the very first time-I will walk into my Home Yet
Time will Soothe instead of Burn, Someone Stands instead of Runs, And
Words Calm instead of Cut
This Song is for Someone, Someone whose Name is not yet Known
This Song is for a Place I’ve yet to be, A Place most would call Home
This Song is for Someone, Someone whose Name is not yet Known
Tonight,
For the Covenant I draw my Sword- To fight your Demons All
I’ve been Anxious to Slay for
Taking all the Hopes and Dreams they stole Away
Today,
For the very first time-I hold the ones you Love
I’m coming with a Hammer to break down their Walls And
Arriving with a Big Love to recover how they’ve Shone
Tomorrow,
For all our Yesterdays I return, to bring the Wages of Honor to your Door
The Flames Climb instead of Fall, Grey becomes as Gold And
A Lifetime spills into the Kingdom because a Lifetime was not Enough
This Song is for Someone, Someone whose Name is not yet Known
Someone whose Name is not yet Known
Prayer for Those Singing a Song for Someone Unknown
Divine Matchmaker
We ask for your Eternal Mind to give us Hope
You know the End from the Beginning
You see the Hearts where each of the Lonely will find a Place to Belong
Before their Voice is Heard or their Smile is even Known
You Created the Kingdom to Come
Where there is Communion among all the Souls
You Created the Bridal Covenant to Remind us of Home
“Instead let it be in the hidden person of the heart, with the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is the way the holy women, who put their hope in God, used to beautify themselves long ago—being submitted to their own husbands just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You have become her daughters by doing what is good and not fearing intimidation. In the same way, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way. Though they are weaker partners, honor them as equal heirs of the grace of life. In this way, your prayers will not be hindered.”

Turn It Around
Turn It Around
By Brian Newman
TURN IT AROUND
Got your knees down on the floor
Conversing with angels again
All alone with the Lord of all your hopes again
At the home of this madness
You patiently wait on Him to take your sadness
And I told you that I would never understand
But here we are, hand in hand again
The Someone between us has it written down
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
-Got my head down on the floor
Hiding from my demons again
All alone with the ghosts of all my chances again
At the home of this madness
Yes I shake and I wait on
Light to cure my darkness
And you told me you would never understand
But here we are, hand in hand again
Chorus: The Someone between has it written down
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’re both out of our time
We’re both out of our place
I’m about out of my Mind
You’re absolutely never out of Grace
Somewhere between us we’ll be found
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
-Been so long on your knees
But you aren’t here by chance
This is your song and this fight is your dance
Children been waiting for a true believer
Another generation spinning out of control
And the home of this modern madness
If you don’t pray it will soon swallow them all
We’re both out of our time
We’re both out of our place
I’m about out of my Mind
You’re absolutely never out of Grace
Somewhere between us we’ll be found
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
- Sometimes I wonder how you’re strong
In a world that believes you’re wrong
Lead me to that Light
So I can guide my hands to find my Sword
Lead me to that Flame
So I can hold you safely through the Cold
Tell me tomorrow and I’ll believe
All that you speak about this God
All that I won’t admit to me
Chorus:
The Someone between has it written down
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’re both out of our time
We’re both out of our place
I’m about out of my Mind
You’re absolutely never out of Grace
Somewhere between us we’ll be found
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
Prayer for Those Who Turn It Around
Creator of Friendship and Covenant
We ask that You bring hearts into our Lives
Hearts that will give Purpose to our Strength instead of Prey on our Weakness
We ask that You bring Hands into Our Lives
Hand that will Lift Us Up instead of Pull Us Down
We ask that you Bring Feet into our Lives
Feet that will lead us fast into the Light instead of further into the Darkness
We ask that you Bring Eyes into our Lives
Eyes that see the Possibility instead of the Imperfection
We ask that you Bring Ears into our Lives
Ears that hear only the Truth and not the Lies
We ask that you bring those who Bring Shalom
Because this World has not taught us How to Heal but only
How to Bleed
“Two are better than one,
because they get a good return for their effort.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his companion.
But oy to the one who falls and has no one to lift him up!
Furthermore, if two lie together, then they will be warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though a man might overpower one,
two can stand against him.
Moreover a threefold cord cannot be quickly broken.”

I Would Be Your Soldier
I Would Be Your Soldier
By Brian Newman
SOLDIER
Remember me in my raincoat
I didn't want to wear
I knew for certain I could bear the downpour
You said son you’re only 5 years old
I swore I would be the fine out in the cold
Wear this cape for the whole wide world to know
I could be your Soldier, be your Hero, I could be Strong
-Remember the words he spoke I didn’t want to hear them where
I knew for certain your heart would tear
You said son you’re only 10 years old
I know you don’t know the ways of the world
Where you going to go when it’s not safe here anymore?
I could be your Soldier, be your Hero, I could be Strong
CHORUS: If I had just one more day
Promise I would make it all okay
Stitch your dreams and glue your smile
Pick you up in my wings
And fly so high Your troubles couldn't be seen for miles
I promise Momma I’d make a Soldier out of me
-I swore I would be your antidote
Swallow this bitter pill for us both
You said son you’re only 15 years old
I’m getting sick and I’m about to go home
Wear your faith for the whole wide world to know
You have been my Soldier, been my Hero, you have been Strong
CHORUS: If I had just one more day
Promise I would make it all okay
Stitch your dreams and glue your smile
Pick you up in my wings And fly so high
Your troubles couldn't be seen for miles
I promise Momma
I’d make a Soldier out of me
- I won’t forget the raincoat I didn’t want to wear
I won’t forget this broken home
Cause I can built a better one of my own
You went to sleep
Before you could see
Me take up my sword And take up my shield
And start a war for us and those like us
And all that we Believed
And make a Soldier out of me
And make a Soldier out of me
Prayer for Soldiers With and Without Uniforms
To The God Who Is a Warrior
We ask that Victims become both Forgivers and Victors
We ask that Abusers become both Repenters and Restorers
We ask that the Weak are made Strong
We ask that the Strong are made Merciful
We ask that this Generation becomes the Generation of Justice
We ask that this Generation becomes the Generators of Mercy
We ask that the Pain is given a Purpose
We ask that the Bitterness is made the Fuel for a Blessing
We ask also that these Hands that these Mercenaries became Warriors
We ask that these Hands that were Shaking
Be Made Ready for War
“Of David. Blessed be ADONAI my Rock— who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.” Psalm 144:1

Postcard for the Weary World
Postcard for the Weary World
By Brian Newman
Postcard for the Weary World
Three a.m. and Once Again
Someone’s been Shot
More Children Abandoned
A Woman Robbed of Innocence
Or a Husband’s Family Lost
The World It Turns, By Tomorrow They’ll Be Forgot
Just Reminds Me That I’m So Small
Trying to Turn This World from the Path it is On
Or Get My Own Foot Off the Gas and Make a Turn
He's Here
From The Fading Hold on Frazzled Ropes
From The Secret Rooms of Broken Homes
From the Plans to Save Our Skins and Souls
From Maps We Draw For Our Own Way Home
From Sudden Stops, The Dead End Roads
When We've Lost His Way Again
My Strength For Hanging On
And Reasons For Trying At All
Are Wearing Thin
And Drawing to and End
The Rope is Frayed and All the Silver Lining Gone
I Hear a Knocking on My Bolted Door
And He Appears
Gentle Nail Scarred Hands yet Burning Eyes Without Fear
Wraps Me In His Carpenter’s Arms
And Shows Me Somewhere Beautiful
Seems So Far From Here
But it’s the Same Old World, if Only I'll Answer His Call
Him Living In Me
We Can Build It Back Again
Giving Me Gentle Hands yet Burning Eyes Without Fear
The End of My Plan To Change It All On My Own
It’s Where He’ll Begin
To Build It Back Again
Not from Outside He's Had to Live Within
To the World He Intended Us to Live
Amen He’s Here
Amen He’s Here
Yeshua Comes
And I Have No Doubt and I Have No Fear
Put a Sign Out for the Weary World
Amen He’s Here
Prayer for For the Weary World
Elohim The Judge of All
We ask Your Forgiveness for our Apathy
We ask Your Forgiveness for our Silence
We ask Your Forgiveness for using all we have only for Ourselves
We ask your Forgiveness for believing we could Fix this all on our Own
We intercede for our Politicians and Lawmakers
Those who have the Power of the Pen
We intercede for our Police and our Judges and Military
Those who have the Power of the Sword
We intercede for our Parents and Siblings and Friends
Those who have the Power of Presence
We intercede for Ourselves and our Churches, Synagogues and Houses of Worship
Those who have the Power of Prayer
We ask for both Justice and Mercy
Those who have one without the other tear down the World
We ask for both Justice and Mercy
Because Tikkun Olam, the Repairing of the World
Requires one to become the Bricks and one to become the Mortar
For all our Ancestor’s and our Neighbor’s Broken Places
We ask you to use our Hands and our Mouths and our Feet
Yeshua we ask, that it’s us that you work Through
Yeshua we ask when it’s Done
We remember that it’s You they should Glorify and You First that they should Love.
“ Then they will answer and say, ‘Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see. Grant atonement for Your people Israel whom You have redeemed, ADONAI,
and do not put innocent blood on Your people Israel.’
Then atonement will be granted to them for the blood.”

Paying the Costs of Cure
Paying the Costs of Cure
By Brian Newman
COSTS OF CURE
Man there is a problem here
We can see it on the news
We’ve got therapy for the symptoms
But no one wants to pay the costs of cure
Costs us more than power
Some baby’s mommy is going to have to be supported so she can stay at home
Cost us more than dollars
Some son’s father is going to have to be respected enough to stick around to watch him grow
Cost us our good time some-times
Some girl would have to throw away Cosmo and keep her heart-box closed
Cost us our idea of what makes a man a man
Set down your reckless guns and take a breath, take a stand
There is no escape
From this madness that has spread
You can buy it all
You can make a donation but that won’t buy a lasting salvation
You can buy a diet pill- every bottle guarantees a pound lost equals an ounce of love
You can buy a t-shirt- and with its logo a place in the world
You can buy your happiness right now if you just charge it to your credit card
But there is no easy answer for this infected nation
And there was no dollar printed that is good enough
Cash is cold-alone and again the belly grows, new logos won’t fill the hole
You can sell and buy these lies but you’re still the same when markets closed its door
Man there is a problem here
We can see it on the news
We’ve got therapy for the symptoms
But no one wants to pay for the cure
Costs us more than lovers
Somebody’s parents are going to have to work it through
Cost us more than viewing hours
Somebody needs to get off the couch and watch the sky turn blue
Cost us our so called good-life some times
Someone would have to set down a dollar to hold a son or a daughter
Cost us our idea of what makes a woman beautiful
Set down your make-up and bikini’s, just stand by your man and love your children
But no one wants to pay the cost of cure
But no one wants to pay the costs of cure
Prayer for Those Paying the Costs of Cure
King of Kings
We invite you to Save our Nation from Itself
We ask you to take away whatever it Takes
Before we have bought and sold everything that is Precious
We ask that you remove our Power
Before we lead anymore of the World Astray
We ask that you change our Hearts
Before we witness the collapse of our House of Cards
We ask that you return the Fathers Lead to serve the Children
We ask that you bring the Mothers Love back to Heal the Home
We ask that you Revive the Hope of the Youth and teach them all that we did Not
We ask that you act quickly in these Lives
Before this Generation is entirely too far Gone
“Lo, everyone who thirsts, come to the water,
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost!
Why do you spend money for what is not bread?
Your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourself in abundance.
Incline your ear and come to Me.
Listen, so that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
the trustworthy loyalty to David.
Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
Behold, you will summon a nation you do not know,
and a nation that did not know you will run to you,
because of Adonai your God and the Holy One of Israel,
for He has glorified you.”
Seek Adonai while He may be found,
call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous one his thoughts,
let him return to Adonai, so He may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways My ways.”
It is a declaration of Adonai.
“For as the heavens are higher than earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Travelers

Travelers
The Years will stretch on like Winter that never Thaws
I could have told you long ago but you would never set foot out of the Door
The Pain and the Persistence and the Adventure would have all been Lost
This Life will leave you with a body full of Scars
I could have told you long ago but you would never put your Heart into it or in the Show
The Fierceness and the Fire in your eyes and the Battle for a better world would have all been Lost
But you won’t be Travelling alone
Home is Far my Son
But you won’t lack for a place at the Table so go
Be Young and be Bold
Be on Fire when the World Grows Cold
My Son even if you have no Hand to Hold
You won’t be walking this Lonely Road All Alone
You won’t be walking this Lonely Road All Alone
Cause I’ve got Travelers You haven’t even Met
Cause I’ve got Places You didn’t even Plan
Cause I’ve got you Fellow Travelers
Cause I’m setting them down from the Clouds along your Path
Cause I’ve got Hands big enough to Straighten the Curves in the Road Ahead
Cause I’ve got you Fellow Travelers
Cause I’m setting them down from the Clouds along your Path
But you won’t be Travelling alone
Home is Far my Son
But you won’t lack for a place at the Table so go
Be Young and be Bold
Be on Fire when the World Grows Cold
My Son even if you have no Hand to Hold
You won’t be walking this Lonely Road All Alone
You won’t be walking this Lonely Road All Alone
Prayer for Travelers
Creator of our Journeys
We come to Thank You for not giving us all the Answers
Cause we would have lost our courage and with our courage gone lost our chance to Win
We come to Thank You for not showing us the dangers around the Bend
Cause we would have turned back when the air got Thin
We come to Thank You for giving us a GPS and not just a Map
Cause we get lost when we try too hard to see Ahead
Cause we need to know the borders of where our paths begin and End
We come to Thank You for these Travelers
Cause without them we would fall into these pits and never find a helping Hand
We Thank You for this Journey
We Thank You for these Travelers that you Send

Just When You Thought The Best Was Through
Just When You Thought The Best Was Through
By Brian Newman
Just When You Thought The Best Was Through
On a cold January the sky fell down
The bricks were crumbling and the stones toppled out
On an old typewriter I spelled it there , my soul out loud
Then you put them all together glue gun spine and paper bound
You said hey there brother, don’t let yourself drown
Your world is so much bigger than this beggar’s town
----Friend you’ve never found it out
All this Treasure you’ve hid within yourself
Friend I dug out all the gold from you
All the words inside you never knew
They’ve been building a better world for you
Just when you thought the best was through
Just when you though the best was through
-On a warm November it turned all round
The girl came back and the accounts blacked out
On a brand new podium I spoke it there, my soul out loud
Then you put them all together bringing smiles from frowns and getting videos out
You said hey there brother, don’t let yourself get proud
Your world was once so much smaller than this empire now
----Friend you’ve never found it out
All this Treasure you’ve hid within yourself
Friend I dug out all the gold from you
All the words inside you never knew
They’ve been building a better world for you
Just when you thought the best was through
Just when you though the best was through
Prayer For Those Who Thought The Best Was Through
To The God who Raises Up The Lowly
We ask that you help us see others with our Spirits and not just our Eyes
We ask that you help others see us with their Spirits and not just their Eyes
We ask that we all Wear our White Stones Proud
We ask that we all toss our Black Stones Out
We ask that your Raise up the Lowly from the Pit
We ask that your Bring the Prideful down from the Pedistool
We ask that you mold us into Who we are made to Be
We ask that you Break of us the
Desire to be Someone Else Instead
“For you see your calling, brothers and sisters, that not many are wise according to human standards, not many are powerful, and not many are born well. Yet God chose the foolish things of the world so He might put to shame the wise; and God chose the weak things of the world so He might put to shame the strong; and God chose the lowly and despised things of the world, the things that are as nothing, so He might bring to nothing the things that are—
so that no human might boast before God.”

No More Stones
No More Stones
By Brian Newman
No More Stones
I’ve walked this Road
With no one by my Side
I’ve walked this Road
With no one in Front and no one Behind
-All I’ve collected in my Years is these Stones
Stones I’ve Dodged became Stones I’ve Thrown
Years of getting Stones on this Road paved with Sadness then Madness
Years of getting Stones when I begged for Bread from Hearts that should have tended Mine
Chorus: But Yahweh I’ve never walked this Road Alone
Cause You wanted to pave it Clear with Gold
Cause of the Choices I have Made
All I’ve ever walked is Dirty and Broken
But this whole Time I should have Known
You were always by my Side
How my World would have Changed
If I had called upon Your Name
If I had called upon Your Name
Today I am Asking
For a Life of No More Stones
-All I’ve known despite my friendly Smile
Alone I’ve caused cause all I’ve known is Fight or Flight
Years of getting Alone with the Monsters under my Bed in the Night
Years of getting Alone when I begged for Love from these Hearts that should have tended to Mine
Chorus: But Yahweh I’ve never walked this Road Alone
Cause You wanted to pave it Clear with Gold
Cause of the Choices I have Made
All I’ve ever walked is Dirty and Broken
But this whole Time I should have Known
You were always by my Side
How my World would have Changed
If I had called upon Your Name
If I had called upon Your Name
Today I am Asking
For a Life of No More Stones
- All I’ve collected in my Years is Gone
Stones I’ve Dodged became a Castle and a Home
Years of getting Hugs instead Bruises and Broken Bones
Years of getting Bread and a Place at the Table instead of Shame I’ve Known
Years of getting Held instead of Punching through my Private Walls of Hell Alone
Years of getting Living Water instead of Bitterness from my Heart’s Deep Well of a Hole
-Cause you’ve got my Front and my Back
And all I’ve never walked with these Warrior Angels by my Sides
All I’ve collected in my Years is Gone
Today I am Thankful For
A Life of No More Stones
Prayer for Those Who Need No More Stones
Yahweh by Our Side
The God of Time and Space
The Spirit who is in our Past, our Present and our Future
We thank You for being with us in our Darkness
We thank you for offering Your Hand when we refused It
We thank you for being the Light even when we wouldn’t See
We thank you for drawing a Map even if we wouldn’t Read
We Thank You for seeing the Road Ahead
We Thank You for removing the Stones even we pulled them back on our Path
We Thank You for planting Roses even where we dropped seeds for all our Weeds
We ask You to come into our Chaos and bring Order in a Moment
We ask You to turn this Life into a Mission for Your Kingdom
Despite the Years we wasted building our own little “Empire of Dirt”
Because You are Yahweh by Our Side
The God of Time and Space
The Spirit who is the Historian of our Past
The Salvation of our Present
The Reminder of our Future

Yahweh You Remain
Yahweh You Remain
By Brian Newman
Yahweh You Remain
Waiting by the Phone
Perhaps it will tell me that I am still Alive?
Staring at a Screen
Possibly it will let this weary Heart have Hope Again?
Even if she Goes
Even if better if she Stays
It won’t be my first Day without the Sun
It won’t be my first Walk all through the Rain
It won’t be my first Dinner across from an Empty Chair
It won’t be my last Dance on my Kitchen Floor just holding Air
But even if she Goes
But even better is she Stays
Yahweh you Remain
Yahweh you Remain
Waiting by this Hospital Room
Perhaps it will tell me that I one more Day to Smile?
Hoping that once again this Green Line will Beep
Possibly it will let this weary Heart have another night of weary Sleep?
Even if she Goes
Even if better if she Stays
It won’t be my first Day without the Sun
It won’t be my first Walk all through the Rain
It won’t be my first Dinner across from an Empty Chair
It won’t be my last Dance on my Kitchen Floor just holding Air
But even if she Goes
But even better is she Stays
Yahweh you Remain
Yahweh you Remain
But even if life presses me in until a Diamond Heart is Found
But even if the sky falls down all over this Debtor’s Town
Even if every one that ever knew my White Stone Name
Even if every one that made the monster’s under my bed to go Away
Even if they Go
Even better if they Stay
Yahweh you Remain
Yahweh you Remain
Prayer for Those Who Keep Hope That Yahweh Remains
Unchanging Creator, We ask that you be our Center
We must have a Fixed Object upon which we can Focus our Gaze
We can’t stand without your Steady when we are Spinning from the Changes of our Days
We need a Compass that will leads us Home when we have Lost our Way
We are seeking a Northern Star to follow when we are tossed about in the Sea
We can’t fly anywhere but the Darkest Space without our Gravity to keep us Safe
We are the Grass that Withers and the Soul Lights that Fade
We are but a Season of Flowers that will no longer Bloom if the Summer is Delayed
We are Fragile and we are Dizzy and we are Blown Away by our Fears without You
Please be the Aleph and the Tav, The One Who Never Began but Always Remains

Calling Me Home
Calling Me Home
By Brian Newman
Calling Me Home
I’ve been so long without my Gravity
I was afraid to Fly Anymore
I didn’t want to be Grounded
I was afraid to spread my wings but not Return
Chorus:
But even when it’s apparent to the World
That this boy’s Anchor is long Gone
You’ve never left me to Float
You’ve never left me to Float
You’ve always gently called me Home
-
Even when I drifted off into the Darkness
And the Lighthouse was just in my past and too far Off
Even when I lingered on the edge of Reality
You sent a Signal that sounded like our Song
You’ve always gently called me Home
-
I was known to fade out into the Cold
Wander off into the Night
Get Lost inside my Troubled Mind
Release the Feathers of my Thoughts
Float past the Stars where Dreamers are known to get Lost
Chorus:
But even when it’s apparent to the World
That this boy’s Anchor is long Gone
You’ve never left me to Float
You’ve never left me to Float
You’ve always gently called me Home
-Even when I drifted off into the Darkness
And the Lighthouse was just in my past and too far Off
Even when I lingered on the edge of Reality
You sent a Signal that sounded like our Song
You’ve always gently called me Home
Prayer for Those Hoping To Be Called Home
Guardian of Dreamers
Please send us those who will be gentle with our Fragileness
Even when we are the ones who are supposed to be Strong
Please send us those who can sing us our Song
When we have forgotten our own Words
Until they arrive and even After
We ask that you be our Ultimate Gravity
Cause you won’t leave us to Float
Remind us that you created our wings so we can Fly
Cause you made us to search the Stars
Remind us that you also gave us a place here where we Belong
Cause you created us to change this place, this world, this Home

Bleed and Speak
Bleed and Speak
By Brian Newman
Bleed and Speak
They can bleed but they can't speak
And we will never know, who they could be
It could have been you, could have been me
Your sister, your brother, the next hero to save the day
Now we will never know
Never know who they could be
---
She was only Seventeen
And the t.v. told her how easy it would be
Just see the Doc and pay the Cost
Never said how much would be forever lost
Looking at the slide, under the belly's arch, in kindergarten yards
These little ghosts are free but never run too far
Chorus:
Blood is crying out to G*d you see
Its Covering the Pain and the Fear and the Greed
From the floor in surgery it seeps
It covers her and the boy who ran away
It covers the Doctor and the congressman he pays
As we stand here silent it covers you and me
We dont bleed but we should speak
Or we will never know, who they could be
----
We all bleed, but about it we won't speak
And we will never heal, while supermen we pretend to be
I could have loved you, you could have loved me
Your sisters, your brothers, the ones you chased away
Now we will never know
Never know who they could be
-
He was only Thirty-Three
And He never pretended it was an easy Truth to Preach
He Just saw the Debt and Paid the Cost
Never willing to just let wander, those who were forever lost
In their Pride, and in their Pain, underneath thier scars
These prison doors are open, but we never run too far
Chorus:
Blood is crying out to G*d you see
Its Covering the Pain and the Fear and the Greed
From the streets of Jerusalem it seeps
It covers her and the boy who ran away
It covers the Doctor and the congressman he pays
As we stand here silent it covers you and me
We dont bleed but we should speak
Or we will never know, who they could be
Post Card for the Weary World
Post Card for the Weary World
By Brian Newman
Lyrics for the Weary World
Three A.M. and Once Again
Someone’s been Shot
More Children Abandoned
A Lady Robbed and Husband Lost
The World It Turns, By Tomorrow They’ll Be Forgot
Just Reminds Me That I’m So Small
Trying to Turn This World from the Path Its Own
Or Get My Own Foot Off the Gas and Make a Turn
He's Here
From The Fading Hold on Frazzled Ropes
From The Secret Rooms of Broken Homes
From the Plans to Save Our Skins and Souls
From Maps We Draw For Our Own Way Home
From Sudden Stops, The Dead End Roads
When We've Lost His Way Again
My Strength For Hanging On
And Reasons For Trying At All
Are Wearing Thin
And Drawing to and End
The Rope is Frayed and All the Silver Lining Gone
I Hear a Knocking on My Bolted Door
And He Appears
Gentle Nail Scarred Hands yet Burning Eyes Without Fear
Wraps Me In His Wings
And Shows Me Somewhere Beautiful
Seems So Far From Here
But its the Same Old World, if Only I'll Answer His Call
Him Living In Me
We Can Build It Back Again
Giving Me Gentle Hands yet Burning Eyes Without Fear
The End of My Plan To Change It All On My Own
It’s Where He’ll Begin
To Build It Back Again
Not from Outside He's Had to Live Within
To the World He Intended Us to Live
Amen He’s Here
Amen He’s Here
Yeshua Comes
And I Have No Doubt and I Have No Fear
Put a Sign Out for the Weary World
Amen He’s Here
Rest Your Weary Head
Three A.M. snd Once Again
No One To Call
Voices Haunt
Demons Taunt
Pictures On The Wall
Reminds Me Who I Have Been
The Ones I’ve Hurt and the Ones I’ve Lost
In My Fading Hold on Frazzled Ropes
In The Secret Rooms of My Broken Homes
In My Plans to Save My Own Skin and Soul
In Maps I’ve Drawn For My Own Way Home
In the Sudden Stops, The Dead End Roads
When I’d Lost His Way Again
He's Still Here
My Strength For Hanging On
And Reasons For Living At All
Are Wearing Thin
And Drawing to and End
The Rope is Frayed and All the Silver Lining Gone
I Hear a Knocking on My Bolted Door
And He Appears
Gentle Nail Scarred Hands yet Burning Eyes Without Fear
Wraps Me In His Wings
And Shows Me Someone Strong and Beautiful
Seems So Far From Me
But its the Same Marred Clay and Tainted Blood, Only With a Brand New Soul
Because Him Living In Me
He Can Mold Me Back Again
Not from Outside He's Got to Live Within
Giving Me Gentle Hands yet Burning Eyes Without Fear
The End of My Plan To Save My Own Skin
Is Where I Know He’ll Begin
The Man I Could Have, Should Have Been
Had I Not Listened To The Lie Again
A Man On a Mission He Created Me to Live
Amen He’s Here
Amen He’s Here
Yeshua Comes
And I Have No Doubt and I Have No Fear
Put a Sign Out for the Weary World
Amen He’s Here
He's Here
In The Fading Hold on Frazzled Ropes
In The Secret Rooms of Broken Homes
In the Plans to Save Our Skins and Souls
In Maps We Draw For Our Own Way Home
In the Sudden Stops, The Dead End Roads
When We’ve Lost Our Way Again
Its That Place Where He Appears
Knocking On the Door
Don’t Wait Just Shout
Amen He’s Here!
Won’t You Let Him In
So He’ll Begin
Molding Brand New Souls in the Same Old Skin
With a Sign Out for the Weary World
Yeshua’s Living Here
Yeah Yeshua’s Living Here
Won’t You Come On In
And Rest Your Weary Head
Crowns
Crowns
By Brian Newman
Who Gives The Crowns
Today it has come, the end of your line.
Burned all your days down, turned to smoke all your time.
You’ve left us a long trail of love-I hope your children will follow behind
Brought Faith like a Stone, it doesn’t shake-I hope its stays when in blows the night
What Will We Remember,
The Laughter and Grief
With Strings on our Fingers
With Stones from the Ground
With Books full of Pictures
With Ghosts of the Good Times that Linger Around
Chorus:
What We Will Remember,
It Doesn’t Matter
Cause G-d Gives the Crowns
No Matter How the Ravens Steal Good Seeds from Their Ground
Today it has come, for the final drive
Knock on the door, after this morning/mourning it won’t open twice
You’ve Left us some Rumors, Inuendos to find
Girl They’ll say You were Crazy, They’ll say You were Wild
They’ll never know You
How you ran a Good Race, How You Gave it a Helluva of Fight
Or How You did your Best With the Thorns in your Side
What Will They Remember,
It doesn’t Matter
Cause G-d Gives the Crowns
No Matter the Rumors, Come Flying Around
One Hundred Years Undone, the End of Our Time
Wicked and the Righteous, Their Choice’s Are Spent Can’t Use Them Again,
When the Day of Judgment Arrives
You’ve Left a Long Trail of Love- I know that your Maker Will Find
The Bad and the Good are All Under His Blood
And You did your Best With the Thorns In Your Side
Chorus:
Yes He Will Remember,
All of these Matters
Cause He Gives the Crowns
When the Last of Man’s Day, Come Circling Around
